Family run since 1967
Monsieur and Madame Coineau became the owners of the Hôtel de Roubaix in 1967.
Monsieur Coineau recalls, "It wasn't easy at the beginning. The hotel didn't have a single bathroom and my wife and I did most of the renovations ourselves. It was a true labor of love!"
Little by little, the hotel was modernized and attracted a loyal following of guests.
"Some of our guests have been coming to us for 30 years, and many tell us that the Hotel de Roubaix has become their Parisian home away from home. Our personnel has also remained very faithful; several of our employees have worked their entire lives in the hotel."
The Hotel went through a difficult patch after Madame Coineau passed away in 1998, but today the son of the family, Christophe Coineau, has taken up the reins. A well-known accordionist who is specialized in folk music from the Limousin region, Christophe is proud to carry on the family tradition in the hotel business, while still pursuing his music career. In fact, it's no accident if there is a piano on the ground floor of the hotel! The new manager has plans to transform the lower level of the hotel into a cozy piano-bar where guest can enjoy a night-cap while listening to music.

But for the moment, the Coineau family is once again concentrating its energies on modernizing the hotel. They have called on the services of a young Belgian decorator, Pétach, who has set a decidedly contemporary tone, choosing bright color accents and an eclectic mix of traditional French decorations with modern comic book artwork. "I love the juxtaposition of 'pop' elements with a crystal chandelier, or the antique plate collection that was so dear to Madame Coineau's heart displayed next to a wall of Tintin posters... For the rooms, I have generally chosen colors and artwork that are softer than those in the reception area, so that guests will have a warm and peaceful haven to return to after their day in this high energy city."
We are located in the heart of Paris on a relatively quiet street, just a short walk from the Forum des Halles (shopping complex), the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers, the Georges Pompidou Museum and the Marais area. The hotel has 53 rooms, all equipped with flat screen televisions, telephone, safe and free wifi. Come visit us and explore Paris. And who knows? You might even get to hear a little music... |
